What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. This page says which ones jensilver.co uses.

What this site uses

Strictly necessary. WordPress, which this site runs on, sets cookies when you submit a form or log in, so that the site works correctly and to guard against forged form submissions. These cannot be turned off without breaking the site, and they are not used to track you.

Analytics. This site runs Google Analytics 4. It sets cookies, normally named _ga and _ga_<id>, that give your browser a random identifier and let us see how many people visited, which pages they read, and roughly where in the world they were. We use it to work out which material is worth writing more of.

We do not run advertising cookies, and we do not allow other companies to advertise to you based on your visit here.

Turning analytics off

• Install Google’s official Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which stops this and every other site measuring you with Analytics.
• Block or delete cookies for this site in your browser’s settings. Every current browser can do this, usually under Privacy.
• Turn on your browser’s tracking-protection setting.

The site works normally with analytics cookies blocked.

Video and other embedded content

Some pages embed video from YouTube or Vimeo. When a page with an embedded player loads, that provider may set its own cookies, under its own policy, which we do not control. The Vimeo player on this site is set not to track you.
