Who runs this site
This website is run by Jen Silver (“we”, “us”). It covers her writing, speaking and consulting, and her property loss work as a contractor, appraiser, umpire and expert witness.

What this site is, and what it is not
Everything on this site, including The Silver Lining Insurance Playbook, the Homeowner’s Toolkit, the Property Savings Account paper, the articles and the videos, is general education about how homeowners insurance works.
It is not legal advice, insurance advice, tax advice or financial advice, and reading it does not make you a client. Insurance policies differ from one another, state law differs, and the facts of a loss differ. Your own policy language, and your own adjuster, carrier, attorney or licensed agent, control what is actually covered in your situation. Nothing here should be relied on in place of reading your policy or getting advice about your own claim.
Describing what an appraiser, an umpire or a public adjuster does is not an offer to act as yours. Where Jen is engaged in a matter, that engagement is in writing and separate from this site.
Accuracy
We try to keep this site accurate and current, and insurance practice changes. We do not promise that every page is complete or up to date, and we are not liable for a decision made solely on the basis of something read here.

Some pages link to companies and resources we think are useful, and some of those links are partner or affiliate links, which is disclosed on the page where they appear. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their products or their privacy practices.
